Saturday, November 2, 2019 marked the 27th annual Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship competition at Slippery Rock University held in Swope Music Hall from 6 to 7 p.m. Student vocalists competed to earn the scholarship which was created to honor Chad Williamson who had planned to study music at SRU before passing in a car accident. The scholarship was created to support and recognize musical talent in Chad's honor. This year's competition was judged by Liza Forrester Kelly, a professor of voice at Western Kentucky University.

Savannah Wesolowski, sophomore vocalist, is eager to take the stage.
Emma Reiss, soprano, performs "O mio babbino caro" by Giacomo Pucchini.
Shaun Klein, baritone, performs "Berenice" by George Frederic Handel.
Gabrielle Spence, soprano, performs "L'ho perduta, me meschina" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
This year's competition had 19 student entries. The first place winner will receive a scholarship funded by the family of Chad Williamson. The second place winner will receive a scholarship funded by Judy and Jim Hughes. Third place will receive a scholarship provided by SRU president, Dr. Behre and his wife Leah Ingram.
